Default Grinding Noise When Accelerating

Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing a loud grinding noise coming from the front end only when I hit the accelerator. As soon as I let off the gas it stops. It usually only starts around 50 kph.

Thanks in advance

It sounds like you have a leak/loss of vacuum to the IWE's (hubs). Check the plumbing, but most likely it's the control solenoid on the firewall. This is a fairly common problem.

I just went for a test drive in 4WD high and I didn't hear the noise.

Is this what I'm looking at replacing?:

Thats it, but I'm a little confused because my '05 just has one sol. that controls both IWE's . Do the 09-14 trucks use two? Either way that/those are the sol(s). in question.

I replaced the solenoid with no luck. I'm going to try and take a closer look at some of the vacuum lines and see if I can't find a broken/cracked one somewhere.

Most of what I looked up showed the solenoid for the older model F150s being near the passenger side behind the battery but for me and my buddy who has a 2013 its right next to the driver. I originally got the solenoid that has the plastic cover that keeps rain from getting inside, but that doesn't fit on the newer models.

Mine does the same thing, but is consistent when accelerating, the noise is prominent, and as soon as I let off of the accelerator it goes away.
