That's interesting but I don't really get how your GPS affixes to that mount. I tried putting mine where that 2nd one is but it wouldn't work.

The Pro-Clips are Pricey, but Nice! I have one for my Samsung Note 3 in a OtterBox Defender Series Case!

ArmyMP, if you like your new Mount thats all that Matters! Who gives a **** what OP think! People will always Whine its too Low, or try this Mines Better. Until it outlawed to have it mounted below the top of the dash! Big fricken deal if someone else doesn't like it!

Enjoy...

I find my location less distracting than the radio and much less than a phone. If you listen for the audio cues and only glance at the screen, you will have no issue. Think about the vision blocking windshield mounts. The handicap placards hanging from the mirror are far more distracting and vision blocking. That big screen in the middle of the dash is a bigger issue that our options.

And just FYI Stingray, the Nav updates aren't $200 a year. You can certainly go to a dealer and get ripped off for that if you want, but not necessary. The MFT system Nav is a SD card and all you have to do is buy the newer version if an update ever is available. I have already done this for my wifes Explorer. New Ford genuine SD card with the current map for just over $50 bucks. Ford doesn't release new ones every year either so it might be that much every couple years at most.

Where can you buy an updated SD card for $50 ?

It just shows the mount, they provide a ball that screws into that mount, in my case, the Garmin I have has a socket clip on adapter that snaps onto the back and it snaps into the mount.

I have the mount that is on the lower right just above the pass through console.

Just search Ebay. SD card A4 is the most current at this time so you can't find one newer than that yet. My wife's 13 Explorer came with an A3 for some stupid reason so I bought the A4 shortly after we bought the car.

Right there for $38 bucks. There are tons of results if you search for it.

In states where there are "distracted driving" laws, this might expose you to a roadside visit from your local LEO.

Take the advice and observation in the manner in which it was intended: concern for YOU guys...

Not for everyone, but here's mine (in the truck the old GPS on my motorcycle)
Absolutely love the carbon fibre and the red detail on that.
I did a similar carbon fibre film on my previous vehicle...but yours has me jealous. I'm tempted to do something similar...and that red detail would chime in nicely with the appearance package red trimming.

On another note...My phone mount is a Nite Ize Steelie mount, which you can stick onto just about anything. There is a circular magnet you secure to your phone/other device, and then you mount the round ball onto your dash. It allows you to turn, swivel, etc without letting go. Would be a good mount for a GPS.

I can toss up some photos of how mine is installed tomorrow, but here's the product image:

That mount is pretty cool. Do you get any shaking when you hit bumps? I may seriously consider that mount.

Thats the system I use. It has the added advantage of being out of sight out of mind when not in use. I don't tempt thieves.
I stow my Garmin and bean bag in the console.
