How much did that run? Any driveability issues or is it still pretty smooth? I really wanted a 4-6" lift but the spousal unit HATES that idea

It was $503 complete with allignment, safety inspection.. well complete.
No drivability issues at all and it looks awsome. Feels big behind the wheel now and I've gotten at least 5 compliments and questions and I just got it home yesterday. Can't go wrong.

Why do people put a block in the back? Is it just to raise the rear end?

Nice. Did they tell you to do anything special, like check the alignment more often or have it re-torqued every so many miles?

No, they said it should be just like new and I didn't have to do anything special but enjoy it. He said they've been doing a quite a few of them lately especially on the FX4's and have had no issues. It does maintain the factory ride but the stance is higher and level. It looks and feels great.
