Default Got a cam phaser question!

So, I was watching Ford Tech Makuloco's complete timing replacement guide, and I noticed something that wasn't touched on. Below is a picture of the truck he was working on, and this is how my truck is now:

That's the passenger side bank, with the cam phaser showing L. This is also how my truck is.

Upon re-assembly, I noticed that on the same bank, he had the cam phaser showing R:

So, the million dollar question is, does it really matter? Should I put it how he shows it, or should I put it like Ford had it from the factory? Last thing I want to do is crater the thing with the starter motor!

Thanks!

Tim

WOW, great catch. I am not going to say I have the answer for you, maybe R/L doesn't matter, but I feel like he made a mistake.
Hey, were all human. I'd post that very question on his YouTube site & wait for response.

The cam phasers are the same part number and have both 'L' and 'R' markings on them. When i did my phasers mine looked exactly like what you have in those screen grabs. The important thing is that the R or L lines up with the timing marks on the chain correctly for the corresponding banks when the crank is set in the right position.

OK, fair enough!

I'm sure I will find out why when I go to put these on, this was just some silly idiosyncrasy that I noticed as I watched the video.

Thanks again!

No problem! If you follow his video guides to the T you will have no problems, they are spot on.
