Goodyear Wrangler SR-A tires
I see that Ford puts these Goodyear Wrangler SR-A tires on most of the new f150's. I will be replacing the stock tires on my 2008 fx4 x-cab and came a across a good deal on these tires. I went to the tire rack website and read mostly negative reviews on these tires. Those of you that have these tires, what is your opinion on them?

I think they suck..I would not buy these tires.
They are ok new, and i mean ok.. but once you get 20,000 miles on them they are horrible. I do not like them in the rain they don't feel secure.

My brother had some on his Silverado , they shook like crazy, then all of the sudden one of them lost a big piece of rubber off of the tread. All of this with about 8,000 miles on them.

I have a 2010 Platinum 4x4 and Honestly the Pirelli Scorpions they put on these are really nice. Another tire I would recommend are the Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's. I had those on my Ranger before and they were good also

My previous truck (Tundra) had BFG Rugged Trails from the factory. Ford was also putting these on F150s for a while too. They were complete garbage.
I replaced those with Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo's based on the rave reviews of them at Tire Rack. They were great when they were brand new, but they wore out very fast. They became extremely noisy, especially when turning and the traction quickly went downhill.
I then replaced those with Michelin LTX A/T2s and they were GREAT tires. Long lasting and good traction.
For my F150, my plan is to replace the SRA's with Michelin probably next year. Either the A/T2 or M/S2.
Here is the Michelin A/T2 on my old Tundra...

To be honest I would look at other options. I actually think the Wrangler AT/s would be an improvement over the SR-A if your trying to go lower in cost. The SR-A isn't even an all terrain, but an all season tire.
Another good tire for the money (won't break the bank) and one that is rated high over at Tire Rack is the Firestone Destination AT. Good reviews and I personally know someone who runs this tire and he says they are a major improvement over the stock good-for-a-years.

Well, maybe the lightbulb upstairs is just a little bit dim but I have no complaints with mine. Just turned 36000 miles and think I'll get 50000 out of them. My driving is mostly 2 lane rural hi-way so speeds are low, but I thought they have done fine in the rain, are quiet, did surprisingly well last year in the one time I had them on hard packed snow. I would prefer a LT type tire next time as I frequently haul 1100 lb. loads of hay home in the bed and have towed numerous times with loads in the 4000-9500lb. range. In those instances a little stiffer sidewall would be nice, but it wasn't really that much of a concern( I should add that my 2 previous trucks were F-350's so I can't give an apples to apples comparison). My next set will be AT's of some kind , but I'm satisfied enuf that I hope I get 60000 miles out of these.
