Question Goodyear Wrangler ATS - winter driving

The truck I purchased has these on it and ive been driving the truck around in the snow. The tires have a good amount of tread depth left on them so I don't know if it's the truck or the tires but I seem to be able to spin the tires quite easily. My old truck (3/4 ton chevy duramax w/ Cooper zeon ltz tires) would not break loose unless you really hit a slick spot or really got on the throttle. I could drive around in 2wd with no problem.

So do you guys think it's the tires causing my traction issues? Or is it the truck, ie light rear end?

Humm...

I read some reviews on tire racks site and they were mostly good. Even guys in cold weather liked them. Not saying you are wrong I'm just surprised due to all the positive ratings.

i had them at the start of winter..they weren't great, maybe some weight in the bed would have helped, ice traction was no good..... i ended up swapping to a set of winters..

Michelin at2's are not much better in the snow. They are too hard and the snow does not shed. I'd suggest BFG all terrains.

The ltx ms seem to work well on our explorer.

Would some sandbags in the bed help?

Cooper Discoverer AT/3s = no more problems driving in snow. I LOVE mine, but then again I had the awful Scorpions before.

I have the wranger ATS tires on my truck and they work great. I have 47K miles and they still cut through the snow. I just ran through 12 inches of fresh and compacted snow in KC with no problems.
That being said, I always have 3 bags (70 lbs each) of sand in the bed for traction. My truck with a unloaded bed can swing out if I push it.
