Gear shift selector stock options ?
I have a 2014 stx screw. On the dash there is two displays. One displays the normal park reverse neutral drive manual 2 1. The one above that displays the actual drive gear you are currently in 1-6. Both light up white then light up the current position red. I installed the sct tuner and the 1-6 drive gear display disappeared. No big deal. I would see it when it would be in manual only. The other day I was taking off in "D" and I decided to hit the "+" as if I were up shifting manually. Then the display light up 1. Then I hit the up shift again and the display lit up 2 but the 1 was still red. So I went through all the way to 6 gear and they all lit up. And the red indicator proceeded to switch when the gear changed in the transmission. I hit the + again and the display disappeared again. So I hit + to illuminate the gear positions. This time I left it on the 2 because I had to go since the light turned green. The truck shifted to second and lit it up red as normal. But then would not shift to third. So I hit + and it shifted to third. I slowed down for another traffic light and the selector illuminated the proper gear as it downshifted. This is strange to me. It seems that when the truck is in"D" I can use the manual shift to adjust the top gear? Is this normal orrrr?? Can someone try on their stock truck and let me know? Thanks!

What you are doing, is choosing the highest gear the trans will shift into (while in D). it will only use the gears that are lit up.
i leave mine (all 6) lit up all the time, and "cut out" a gear or two if i'm towing up a hill, or just want that little extra "umph".
i feel the "full manual" mode is cumbersome, so this is my happy medium

this forum is awesome. What Stoky422 described is exactly what happened to me only I accidentally bumped the "+" on the shift level. Now I know !!! Thanks so much.
