Gear Selector Issues
I'd appreciate opinions on this before I head back to the dealer...
My '09 F150 4X4 Lariat SCrew had the clicking/popping problem in the steering column. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a bearing failure and replaced the "entire steering column" on the extended warranty.
Steering is tight and like new but now I'm noticing the gear selector position light will intermittently go out for no reason I can find. I've noticed it only in the Drive position (where it is 99% of the time). Pulling the lever toward me will restore the light but it's still a little disturbing be driving down the road, look down and see no light. Also, the selector seems to move past the Drive position into 3rd when putting it in drive and seems less crisp and definite than it was before.
Might these issues be related to the steering column repair or is something separate altogether? The truck is going on 6 years old and nearing 100K, so is this normal wear and tear and merely coincidental? If it is a separate issue, is this complicated to fix?
