Gauge cluster goes blank while driving...
The other day I had just picked up my mother from her place when I noticed that there was a loss of power (we were already driving up the street at this point) as I was trying to accelerate. I had it floored pretty much and it was barely added more power. We were probably going about 30-35mph when this happened. Then I noticed that all the reading on the gauge cluster were out, no mpg, no mileage, no speedometer, just the tach was working. The airbag light suddenly came on, and then a giant wrench appeared on the LCD, then disappeared. We quickly returned to my moms house, and I shut it off. Waited a minute and then tried to start it back up and everything was ok again. I have no clue what could have happened. Its a 2012 FX2 with the 5.0L V8 with about 85k on it, and I've never had any issues with it before hand. The only thing I had done recently is my rear driver side flashers went out, so I replaced them with some LED ones from amazon, which made then do the fast flashing thing, but already changed them back to regular bulbs cuz it was driving me nuts. But other than that, its been a very solid truck. Any ideas as to what could have caused it? Or what I should check? Thanks.
Have you had the OSS/leadframe recall and warranty work done? You should have a code since you got the wrench light, although sometimes they don't stick. If you scan and find the code, DO NOT DELETE it. Take it to a dealer and get it fixed for free, they need to see the code.
The fast flashing with LEDs is normal, that's what it is supposed to do, because LEDs use less electricity than halogen and the computer thinks they are still "out". There are 2 ways around that, using resistors or turning off the system in the computer.

I just recently found out about that recall for the transmission shifting issue, but haven't taken it in yet. I've had bad luck with the dealers here, and don't really trust them a whole lot. They keep telling me to have the transmission flushed, but I don't think it needs to be done yet since its been shifting fine. And they tried to sell me lug nuts for $240. But i'll ask around for a good shop.
And I read about the LED quick flash, just personally I find it annoying. lol.
