With 36 gallons you should never have to find out.....

Depending on where I go if I run my card as "credit" the limit is pushed up to $125. Which seems enough to fill 'er up when the light comes on. Usually 29-32 gallons. Shutting off at $100 leaves me at 3/4 tank at only 26 gallons or so. Pretty lame..

Here is food for thought...

It costs $100 dollars to fill my truck up at 14 mpg. I can drive for two entire weeks. So... $50 bucks a week to drive my huge truck.

OR... I can drive my Miata which gets 27 mpg. But, because of its tank size, I fill up once a week at $40 bucks.

So really... its only $10 bucks more to drive my environment hating gas guzzling monstrosity. hmmm...

Anyways.. On topic I've never ran it down that low. On my Ranger it was about 75+ miles. I had the 21 gal tank and after driving for THREE days with the fuel light on I put in 19.5 gals. So there STILL was more to go. Crazy...

it does depend on where you go, when traveling ive seen as low as 75$ shutting off, i think some stations are raising the limits now finally.

try a different credit card or station, they all vary, Maverick combined with my visa lets me fill her all the way up $125.00-130.00

to the OP - the answer is there is no good answer...your DTE calculation will depend on how far you drive on each tank. the farther you go on "0 miles to empty", the more accurate that 0 will get. When I first got my truck it would hit 0 miles to empty and only fill up about 22 gallons. Now it will fill up 24-25 after I pushed it a little bit.

It costs $190 to fill up where I live. Most stations here already have a $125 limit.
