I use shell I think its the top quality.... I have never understood how ethanol works on trucks ive never tried it because they dont sell it were I live :S but would it give you more or less power? they told me its similar to premium fuel but i have no idea.

according to the specs it gives you more power, but from a physics standpoint ethanol does not pack as much energy potential as petroleum products (e.g. gasoline) so you're fuel economy suffers as a result. supposedly its a 5 - 10% drop in fuel economy, but in practice ive read of people seeing a much steeper drop.

you aren't missing anything.

Going to try it for a 800 mile trip. I will know for sure because I am going to set the cruise control to 72 and cruise for 400 miles and see what it does.. Then I know for sure what I get and at 90 cents a gallon cheaper if its close then seems like a deal to me.

Ya I was getting about 15.5 city, now I'm getting 12.9 and its getting lower. It is not worth the 40 cents I saved a gallon when it's drops my mpg like that and I didn't see much difference it the power. they say the 5.0 gets 360 hp with regular gas and with E85 it's suppose to get 375 with

I also read that when u use e85 u need to do an oil change at 5000 instead of the 7500 if u use it in a regular basis. It said u need to do it because it takes off all the gunk in the engine when u use it. I new to this whole flex fuel thing so I wanted to try it out and read up on it. IMO I don't think I am gonna use it only so often to clean my engine

Yes Shell is considered a tier 1 fuel but it's what goes in it that matters. Chevron claims to have the best fuel additives and from what I've read I tend to believe it.

I have to agree Motar, AAFES fuel does suck and it's not the cheapest. I use ARCO, usually 10-15 cents cheaper a gal.I try to add a fuel additive every 3rd fill up to be sure.
