On the news this weekend, they stated the average price per gal. in the US was $3.85.
Geez, it has been weeks since gas was that low here in CA.
We ran down to Sacramento yesterday, where I filled up and I continued my regular use of the E85 fuel, as the 'spread' is fairly steep and I feel for my type of driving, I am coming out somewhat ahead in my pocket, plus I am keeping $$ in the US.
The owner of this station told me that a large % of his business now, is for the E85 fuel. The manual states to run a full tank of Reg-Unleaded every 3,000 miles; so every two months +/-, I do that and the truck has run absolutely great.
I am still hopeful that the EB motor will be available to run E85 by the '12 or NLT the '13 Model Year. I need/enjoy a truck, but I do not need this 5.4 which I now have; and in the longer term, I feel the EB will offer the right balance for my situation.
I shot this on my cell phone yesterday afternoon.
The Chevron station across the street is also at $4.19 for Reg.

I spent $64 dollars to fill my Mustang yesterday. Whole time I was looking at it, I was thinking, "Damn, what a deal!" Just got back from overseas where AVERAGE price is $8 to $9 dollars a gallon. I spent $145 bucks to fill an Audi A4 from empty to full.
It's all a matter of perspective. lol

It finally hit the threshold here in mid-Michigan, $3.09 for E85 and $3.89 for regular unleaded last week. I’m sure it’s changed by now. Fuel mileage wise I need E85 to be 70 cents per gallon cheaper to be worth switching….it was 80 so I filled up.
Kinda disappointed…. For the first 2 month my 2010 was averaging 17-18 mpg on unleaded (on the dash), but now I’m struggling to get 15mpg with regular. 13mpg on E85, so I need to recalculate and see what the price difference has to be now with the new mpg.

I routinely do a 'manual' calc' on mine, as the dash readout can vary +/- 1-2 mpg on my truck, vs. my own gal's to miles actually driven, hand calculations. Also, I took a hit with my new 35" A/T tires.
prob stupid question. can u mix the e85 with regular? or do you have to run each almost to empty before using one or the other?
I ask b/c e85 is hard to find here. sometimes i go by one but my truch has 1/2 or 1/4 tank left and im no sure if i can stop in..
thanks.

Absolutely! I have done this many times.
The computer will adjust within a very few miles to compensate for the exact mixture. The manual outlines it all.

Yeah, I want a leveling kit with 33's but I don't want to lose anymore mpg. I need to do a manual check to get a good measurment. Also we are coming off winter blend and maybe that will bring me back up.
Just filled up my truck. Exxon @ $3.659.
23.67 gallons for a cost of $86.62. I prefer Shell but it was 10 cents higher. As long as it's a top tier gas I will use it.
13.32 mpg calculated (13.5 by the trip computer) included 80 mile of towing 8200 lbs and 80 miles towing 2200 lbs.

You can mix them, and Im curious to know as i get worse mileage with 10% compared to regular gas and even worse with 85%, but do any of you have a 20, 25% blend where you live? I read a small study that said 20-25 percent ethanol will actually get better mileage than straight gas, was gonna try mixing 10% and 85% once to get end up with 25% to test that theory but the 85 was cheap so I just used that. Averaged about 12 mpg at 70-75 mph into a 15 mph headwind.
Was thinking of trading my 10 for an 11, the price they offered isnt a bad deal I dont think, but i kinda want the EB but im not buying an EB thats not flex fuel, might wait for the 12-13's myself.
