Great truck, but I didn't like the way it drives; so I traded it for an Ecoboost (Supercrew 4x4); which in my opinion it's a better truck, at least as a daily driver and to tow too.
How are they to drive? I've been curious as to why, because they can always be found up for sale used.

Agree 100%............ the Raptor is a bitchin off road machine. An FX4 is a bitchin EVERYTHING else machine (Daily driver, tow truck, powerhouse drag racer lol) and a good off road machine.

Wouldnt trade my FX4 for a Raptor if you offered a straight trade for a new one today. Nope.

I'm not saying the FX4 is not a very versatile, capable truck because it is. It sounds like you have never driven a Raptor before. It can do everything the FX4 can, but better (except tow and only by then just by about 1000 lbs). If I was to drive a different model if would be a FX4, but it does not compare to the Raptor.

Last i read (and i may be wrong) a Raptor is rated for towing 8000 lbs..... Thats a lot farther away from 11,300 than 1000 lbs.

Basically, the Raptor does NOTHING better than an FX4 other than off road capability.

Like everybody i bought the truck that fits me best because the Raptor fell short of what i needed:

-10k+ towing
-great full size truck MPG

Are Raptors badass?? Absolutely..........

But, would i spend 50k on a one-act truck that i need to daily drive???

NOPE... not me.

I agree with this guy... I would much rather have my truck as I also think it looks better than the bone stock raptors I see all of the time.... though raptors are nasty, I wouldn't want to mess with all those goodies!

Agreed - get the one which best suits you.
I work in the oilfield and i drive a ton of gravel and mud and everything in between. On top of that I sometimes drive 1000km on pavement to get to the good stuff. I tested a Raptor but got an FX4 EB instead. I just could not bring myself to feed that 6.2 - and my company pays the fuel. If there was an EB Raptor I'd get one tomorrow.

pardon my ignorance and did not mean to hijack the thread but what is the ride/performance difference among xlt/fx4/lariat/platinum on the same motor since the thread only comparing raptor to fx4? i have the impression that fx4 is different than the rests?

i thought the ride/performance is the same for all trim lines with same motor?

As current owner of a Raptor and previous owner of a FX2 & FX4 I can say that the Raptor drives completely different than both those other rigs and much better.

I maintain, that the FX4 is the best looking 4x4 on the market and you can make those things look BA. They will also out tow a Raptor. But I think the Raptor has some major advantages in the off road department that are hard to argue with. Can you make a FX4 a off road rig that is as capable or better than a stock Raptor?...I am thinking you can. It just takes $$$ and a voided warranty.

The idea of having a factory engineered off road truck that is a capable as the Raptor is unique. Does it make the raptor the best thing since sliced bread....nope. But you get a lot of truck for the high $40K range backed by factory warranty with little mods required for the off road department.

But I will say, as a daily driver it is a dream. Way better than my FX's. But again it has it's limitations if you want to go modifying it. You are kind of throwing all the advanced mechanical and electronic technology and extra money you spent away if you start ripping into the suspension. You end up paying a lot for 8" wider and heavier duty axles on the front and rear. (They really are huge up front)
