FX4 appearance pkg badges
lookin to dress up my '11 FX4 with the red appearance pkg badges. i found a set on ebay for $130..is that reasonable? my local guys couldnt find me a price.
i'm not really all that keen on taking mine off and paintin them, so i'm lookin to get an OEM set.
...unless you have set to sell me??

I have a 13 FX4 without the red appearance package emblems. I thought the price of the emblems were too high. There are only two other options 1. plasti dip or 2. emblem overlays. I chose option 2, but didn't paint the chrome around the emblem. The "f150" is the only thing that can be overlaid, but not the small fx4 on the emblem, which won't give you the full "appearance" effect. You'll have to take them off and paint the bottom, but not all emblems come apart into two pieces for ease of painting the inserts.
In the middle of the application process I got interrupted by my son, when I came back and looked at just the F being red, I decided I liked it as is. Simple and unique. I did the same thing for the rest of the emblems. Check out ebay they have many colors: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271251328281...84.m1439.l2649

Well, they do sell them in many colors including ford colors. If you're willing to pay for the OEM reds, then that means you'll have to take off your emblems anyway. You might as well take them off and paint them. It'll only cost you about $12 for a black and red plasti dip can and about an hour of your time. Or plasti dip them black and then add the red overlays. That way, you don't have to remove the emblems. Just mask, plasti black and add the overlays. Good luck in what ever you choose!

You can plasti dip your emblems black and the buy some model paint and paint in the lettering red. I would say this is the easiest way to do it and way cheaper than $130.
Took me 15 mins to do my emblems, I'm assuming it wouldn't take long to paint the letters in either.

Looks good! Exactly, just plasti dip then add the overlays. I think model paint would really take some time and a steady hand. Overlays simplify things. It was my original idea to plasi dip first, but since chrome doesn't bother me, I skipped it.
