Texas isn't so big if you take the short cut through Amarillo.
The down side? Amarillo.

I had no idea a tune could make such a difference in how the eco performs. I am seriously tempted now reading this and a few other posts.

At the top of the 2011+ engine section, there is a thread for Ecoboost 1/4 mile times and a few near the top are tune only with no other mods. The tune can get you about 95%. The other 5% costs a lot of money.

Great story! I told a guy the other day my truck had the ecoboost in it. His reply was, "OH, those are great engines. Did you get the v6 or the v8?"

Just the little 6.

Even worse is they think so highly of themselves and their truck that they look down at those that have smaller sized trucks that actually use them for their intended purpose. In the words of my father-in-law to his nephew " A truck is made to work, not look pretty. If you need to pretty your truck up to meet women or to be accepted by your friends then there is something wrong with you and them".
Personally, I couldn't disagree more. People can do with their money what they please, if they get they kicks out of lifting a truck 2-ft with 40" tires then more power to them. I agree with another poster, "if trucks are only made for working, then cars are only made for getting groceries and hauling kids." Plus, I'm gunna be honest, having a sweet looking truck never hurt things in the lady department back in college....

I agree completely. Id say like 75% of people on here tow maybe once a year anyways its not like most people here tow 5k a day or something. I dont want a plain looking truck, i wanna be able to look at my truck and be like damn you a sexy beast. I hate when people think of me as an *** just cuz my truck is lifted

Oh I never said anyone couldn't do it or tell them how to spend their money. I just think they look like off road posers since people try to make it look like something it is not. I am a utilitarian and do not like things that are just for show especially when making it for show makes it worse for it's intended purpose. Sorry if my opinion offends you. It is just a knee jerk reaction everytime I see one, and my wife and friends get a good kick out of laughing at most of them that try to act like a Billy Badass. It is just my opinion and I understand not everyone is the same. You are entitle to think it is cool just as my wife, friends, and I are entitle to think it is not. We can just agree to disagree, but I never told anyone how to spend their money like you implied.

Oh geez, you have the fat guys with the white frames too. Does he also have the truck nutz hanging from his bumper. I get a real kick out of those types because they say they are "original", but they are in just about every lifted truck in south Texas.

Don't get me wrong. I used to have an 84 Yota back in the day with a 6 inch suspension lift and a 2 inch body lift. I thought I was cool too and a real off roader until I joined an off roading club. I learned real quick that putting a lift on my truck made it worse for off road in most cases, and would have been better if it was 4-6 inches smaller. I even got laughed at my the real off roaders too. The PITA of getting in it and accessing the bed started to look stupid to me since it served no purpose for I wanted it for which was off roading. The damage was already done to the frame with the lift so I could not take it off. I sold it to get a Jeep with a 2 inch lift to fit 31s and I went places that Yota never could with it's lift.
