Fun trip reports
I just returned from 925 miles running around Oregon for 5 days in my 2012 Screw 4x4, 5.0, 3.55s, 9000 miles on it. The trip was for catching fall colors and hitting some great natural hot springs. We crossed the Cascades twice at Mt Hood, drove to the top of Steens mountain 9700 feet, 115 miles of gravel and washboard. 20.6 total mpg and 22.4 mpg for the 326 miles of pavement coming home. Speed averaged 62 on pavement and 30 on the gravel. (Oregon has a slow 55 limit on these two lane roads) This was my first use of the 4x4 feature including about 20 miles in low range coming down the mountain which gave me a nice range of gears to pick from to have the engine do most of my braking. We slept in the 6.5 bed. When we made camp I removed the Trifecta tonneau, inserted my wood side rails which lets the tonneau attach to the top, snapped side canvas panels on and my temporary canopy became our sleeping quarters. A Full Size air mattress fits perfectly in the 6.5 bed. Great trip.
In may I usually go to myrtle beach for a week I leave from coeymans hollow ny to myrtle beach it takes around 13-14 hrs to get there its about 800 miles one way I have a 2010 xlt 4x4 with the 5.4 36 gallon tank I average right around 19-20 mpg was able to go about 650 miles before filling up which took 33 gallons usually. Fun trip even more fun when we get to the campground we are staying at.
