Default Full Auto Windows

This one is for all you electrical guys!

1) What actually makes a window full auto up/down? (the wifes FLEX drivers window is this way) switch, motor, relay?

2) How do i make all my windows full auto up/down from the driver control panel? dont care if the other switches do or not.

When I tore into mine trying to clean the contacts because my windows weren't rolling up, I saw that there is actually an extra individual switch that gets hit when you use the Auto Roll Down function.

I have never taken one apart, but I would bet there is a torque sensor on the motor, where-by, should the torque on the motor exceed a pre-set value the motor reverses (at least for the auto up).

In order to changes yours out you would have to get the whole window regulator and control panel out of a late model truck, at least this is what I think would need to happen.

For the F-150, Auto up is controlled by a module on the window reg motor. there are hall sensors in the window motor that monitor window position and speed. Module has an algorithm that controls anti-pinch and thermal protection.

Ford also uses door modules in some vehicles (also control locking and mirrors) to analyze motor speed data from the hall sensors in the motor.

I wouldn't even attempt to add factory (2011+) one touch to a 2010 or older... but you would at least need new front window regulators, switches, and door wiring harnesses. Haven't heard of anyone attempting it.

Best bet would to get one of the aftermarket kits that adds one-touch... however they do not have anti-pinch so don't ever stick anything in the window when it's closing.
