Fuel pump module issues - 2010 F150 5.4L
I have done some searching of the fuel pump module issues but can't see a similar issue. I would appreciate the forum members help. Truck died and after some diagnosis I thought it was the fuel pump module. Bought one and plugged it in but truck still won't stay running. Truck starts runs for a few seconds and dies. Truck has 149L miles. Here is what I have checked and performed:
-Fuse 27 has the relocation kit and is in good condition with large style fuse
-The old FPM, the connector and adjacent wiring all in great condition - South TX truck. No corrosion visible..connector pins look pristine
- Truck starts, runs for a couple of seconds and dies - this tells me the pump is priming when you turn the key on, but FPM doesn't keep the pump running after start.
- - I jumpered the connectors 4-8 and 1-5, the truck starts and runs fine.. removed the jumper wires, plugged if back in and same start/stall issue. Was able to use the jumpers to get the truck home. Jumpers tell me the fuel pump power(fuse) and fuel pump relay are good. I get 12V at the connector to the FPM
Looking for ideas. From what I have researched other issues could be the PCM not sending the PWM signal to the FPM, a break in the wire between the PCM and FPM, a bad new FPM I just bought. Appreciate any suggestions. Have a new meter coming that will measure % duty cycle so I can measure the signals coming to the PCM and the signal the FPM is supposed to send back to the PCM
Thanks in advance!!
