Fuel Issues
Hi I have a 2013 3.5 ecoboost, bought it from a family member after it sat for 2 years (alternator seized up and he didn’t feel like replacing it) I’m throwing codes p0087 and p0300, running very rough
and smoking a lot from the exhaust along with fuel present in the tailpipe. originally I replaced my high pressure pump as it was leaking already, didn’t fix my issue. I found that my fuel injector was stuck open on cylinder 3 so I went ahead and replaced those (not a fun job) along with dropping and draining the tank and a new fuel pump in the tank. Now I fired it back up and it is still throwing the same codes along with running rough and smoking still, now the smoke is definitely less than before and no fuel present in the tailpipe but I am at a loss of what this issue could be. Has anyone had this issue before and could hopefully give me some insight or something else to check out? Thank you in advance.

In bold on the first post the OP mentions he installed the HPFP cam follower in wrong and eventually corrected it to fix his issue. Sounds like he was chasing the same thing as you and tried the same remedies.
