Default Fuel gauge and fuel range not working

Hello guys new to the forum here. So far liking it but anyway here is my issue, I have a 2011 f150 XLT 3.5 eco boost all stock besides leveling kit. I started the truck this morning and the fuel gauge started dropping fast and the range and mpg read out just had dash’s across the board. Topped it off with gas it took 11 gallons and still nothing. Truck run great other than that. Hopefully a simple fix?
Thanks
Clay

I believe you have a fuel tank sensor failure, I have a 2020 XLT Supercrew and since June I’ve had issues where the dash screen “miles to empty” is not stabile, upon filling up (36 gal gas tank) the miles to empty shows 450 miles (which isn’t right) then several days later will shoot up to 595 miles to empty. I have to make a appt with the dealer. But back to your problem it sounds like you have a problem with “powertrain control module may have detected a fault with the fuel sensor signal indicating it may be stuck”

Do you have a way to check for codes?

Being that you have 194,362 miles on your odometer you have 2 choices, schedule a appt. with your Ford dealer or stop by your mechanic’s shop and talk with them, because of the sensors/modules it could be any of a myriad of issues. Because of all the computers in these vehicles it’s not as simple as a gas tank sending unit, unfortunately.

Ok will probably do so then. Was hoping for a simple fix such as a fuse or sensor.
Appreciate the input
