as i wrote in post #74, it's not a big enough issue for me to want to send it back. if i can't fix it, i'll probably keep it for a while then sell it used and try something new. i really do like how it rolls up so nicely and how easy it is to carry when you remove it. i have a low roof in my carport so solid fold and fiberglass toneaus can't go all the way up. the roll-x is good for that.

My rollx 4 days old IMPLODED when I was pulling my camper and passing a semi. Bent the rails and broke many of the clips on the cover that lock it to the rail.

Jcain,

Was the cover strapped down or properly locked in? I can't imagine how terrible it must be to lose any product like that. As the owner of BAK, and having just read this post, I'd like to ensure that your product is replaced at no charge. I'd also like to make sure that its properly installed, at the risk of something like that ever happening again. The new Roll-X is a good product which should provide great use. Lets try to make that happen. I'm standing by to personally help you.

Email me at julian@bakindustries.com and I'll get things underway for you.

Best,

Julian

It's a bummer that a bunch of you are having trouble with your Roll-X cover. I bought one based on the early reviews I read on this forum and had it professionally installed on my new truck. So far, so good. No problems with it, I like the way it looks and it is very easy to roll-up and get out of the way when I need access to the bed.

We took a trip and I wanted to leave some plastic bins in the bed overnight, so I rigged up a locking system for it, which I posted in the reviews forum https://www.f150forum.com/f7/roll-x-...ty-fix-188535/

Good to see the BAK folks participating here and trying to make things right for the folks having trouble. Hope you guys can get something worked out.

That sucks you guys are having trouble. I wish you had the experience I had/have with my G2. I made sure to install it correctly, used dryer to warm seals so they would flatten and tweaked the cover using hose test. It only gets a few drops at the tailgate where the step is.

It is secure enough that I leave stuff back there all the time. I won't leave electronics back there just because it is not insulated and will have some moister naturally from the temperature change.

I hope they help you guys and make it right which it looks as if they are.

I've got a Roll-x cover on order and hope to have it installed this next week. I'll definitely post feed-back to this thread after its installed to detail my experience with the product.

I hope your issues are resolved b/c for the $900 that mine cost I do have high expectations in regards to quality and support.

Good thing I looked up this thread again because I was about to come in here and bitch again about my cover's seals coming off again, and the rails losing its pads.

Will send you an email on Monday.

BAK and Julian finally sent me a new cover and rails, and I have to say the quality of the replacement is leaps and bounds over the original cover. The rails are redesigned and the cover doesn't run long anymore. If the seals hold up, this will be a grade A product. Finally satisfied. It rained the day after I installed the new one and not a drop into my bed.

What was redesigned with the rails? Does it look like they could still bind if you get dirt in there? Just did some yard work the other day and now both locking rails are binding up. If they redesigned for this issue, then it would be a solid product in my opinion.

Would love to know what's changed since I bought mine in November. I honestly hate mine and regret buying it. I'm a pretty smart guy and have futzed with it and it still doesn't go on right and doesn't roll out properly either and one side doesn't latch right.
