Front noise during U-turns
#11
Update: Took the truck in last night and just returned back from the dealer. The service department said that everything looked fine and they just lubed the steering stops to help with the noise.

mine does the same thing and a Ford tech said my steering rack is toast.... Its a 2010 with 108k on the clock. I was shocked that my truck with mostly street miles has a bad rack, while our Expedition which sees only the bumpy ranch is fine.
The Ford tech said it wasnt dangerous, just annoying...so im dealing with the noise. He couldnt pinpoint the EXACT location of the noise in the rack, and said they have to replace the ENTIRE THING not just the worn piece. Screw that. The cost quote was ridiculous too
I hope Ford is reading all this. Worn out steering racks, clunking driveshafts, drivetrain clunks/ticks/whatever problems are all over this site... you'd think the best automaker in the world, who has been doing it for 100-some years could figure out how to master the mechanical aspect of a design thats been the same for decades.
