Anyone have a how to on how to remove the front grill on an fx4? I am about to replace mine with a cw grill and don't have the instructions handy.

Pop the hood and there are about 6 bolts and a couple clips holding it to the hood. Just remove them and drop it out.

Be careful tabs at top of grill. Lift up from hood when removing and you might get lucky and not break the tabs. Good luck.

If "CW" means Carriage Works you'll have to cut out your existing grill, that's what I had to do on my 2009 FX4... If you look at the second picture you can see where I had to leave some of the stock plastic in the surround, it actually looks better that way because it seems as if it came like that instead of just being open on the sides.

Default Grille Removal....

Just helped a friend install a bug shield on his new Platinum....and we "learned" how to remove the grille.

The bolts and nuts on the back side of the grille are easy.

The tabs at the top of the grille are pushed into metal clips with teeth on them that make it very easy to install on the assembly line.....but they do not want to come out.

We ended up using a towel-covered wide pry bar to get them to come out and still broke off a few.

But it doesn't matter if you break the tabs off as the bolts and nuts hold the grille on very securely.

Take it easy....don't scratch the paint......

Good luck.

If he's installing a Carriage Works grill, then it's just an insert that reuses the old grill. He's going to have to cut the factory grill up to mount the CW grill inside and then reinstall it.
