Hey!
Sound coming from my front diff that sounds like a cross between running over the rumble strip and when you used to put a base ball card in your bike tire.

Checked the diff fluid and its fine. Was told to try putting it in 4x4 to see if it made a difference and it made it worse.

Can I take the front cv shafts out without leaking oil?

Yes you can take out the CV shafts without leaking oil, however i'm afraid there is a very high chance you've got bad bearings in the front diff and it'll need rebuilding.

Mine was doing the same and one of the bearings had worn like this.
I had them rebuild and drill/tap the casing for easy changing of the oil.
