Default free or inexpensive mods

Had read somewhere about the Air Intake Mod - can this be done on a 2009? Any other mods that will improve performance, fuel economy, or the look of this otherwise AWESOME truck?

oh and imo i would not hack up your intake save the money and do it right get an intake exhaust and a tuner all around the same time otherwise its not even worth it you wont see much gain if any at all by cutting your stock intake plus im not sure if the 2009 f150s have that style intake

Default tried one mod already but am unhappy with it

I put a Magnaflow 18" muffler in place of the stock muffler and it does nothing for fuel economy, but does give that horrible droning noise at exactly the wrong speed - 100-120km/hr or approx 62-75mph, right where I do the vast majority of my driving. It may be coming off and the stock muffler going back on...

I was planning on doing some kind of an intake mod, and then a new tune - either via handheld programmer (Diablo Predator) or custom dynotune. The local dyno/performance shop wants $7-800 to do a custom tune... Not sure if it is worth that much more than a Predator tune.

Any thoughts?

man for that kind of money you can get two tuners with custom tunes haha if it were me i would get the handheld tuner and then you can do whatever you want with it from there and when you add mods you just have them added on as you go

yea dude you have an amazing truck, even stock its amazing! save up for getting quality not quantity.
take your time and be proud of what your making, its your masterpiece. If you rush things your work will look sloppy and people will frown on it and so will you. if your tight on money, only spend it on worthy things that will make the overall project stand out, such as doing a full exhaust kit (not just muffler), put in a full CAI (cold air intake), then a tuner if you want, youll notice a lot more performance from just the first 2 addons.
if this still doesnt satisify your 0-60 perf then get a whipple supercharger (about 4k total, this is an extreme mod).

Get stuff you want on there, not just what everybody else has and looks cool. trust me imagination goes a long way, its not just for kids

getting exhaust, CAI, tuner is way better than chrome, air fresheners, and a fart can if you know what i mean
