Default Fram Extra Gaurd Air Filter

I just bought a fram air filter and read some not so great stuff about them after I bought it. I have not installed it yet but would it be ok or should I just trash it and buy a motorcraft or wix?

I have heard horror stories as well, and I get my truck serviced at the dealer with factory parts. I also have a Dodge Ram for a company vehicle that gets serviced at a generic lube shop that uses Fram filters and I can't say I have ever had a filtration issue. Nor do I know anyone who has had issues. Are they that terrible? If I had to answer I would say no. But I truly believe there is much better for the money.

I used to use the fram oil filters every time on my 07 H3 w, 113k miles all by me, w/ no engine or other problems whatsoever on that suv! But after seeing the cardboard in them I stopped and started using Mobil 1 oil filters!

I use there air filters. I don't use there oil filters though. Bosch or Purolator oil filters are usually what I use as I pick up my oil at Wal Mart as that's usually the cheapest place and I can dispose of the used stuff too.

I'd go ahead and use the Fram air filter. No worries. I've heard negative things about their oil filters too...but I put 190k miles on a Dodge Ram with Fram oil filters with no problems. I use Wix filters now, although if I'd already bought a Fram, I'd stick it on there and wouldn't worry.

I had a fram oil filter on my 01 dodge ram, installed by a local shop, that the rubber gasket wrinkled up on and didnt seal. luckily for me i always start my vehice in the parking lot and let it run for a minute before i leave while i check everything out that was serviced. good thing i did that day! it was probably just a freak thing with it not having oil put on the ring before it was installed but i dont trust it anymore, i use mobil 1 now aswell. just my story.

here's my thoughts on fram

if you are RELIGIOUS about your oil changes and do them every 2500-3k miles then the oil doesnt really get a chance to break down or get very dirty and in the scenario fram really isnt that bad. but with that said I personally
