Ford's EcoBoost output compared to the new Dodge Hellcat. AMAZING!!
There has been some talk here about the EcoBoost's output, and whether it is truly a "high performance" motor from the factory. The media and the public are falling all over themselves talking about the output and performance of the new "Hellcat" Hemi in the new Challenger and Charger at 707 HP and 650 Lb/Ft of torque.
Here are some comparisons of the specific output per cubic inch for each of the engines. I think that the results speak for themselves as to whether the EcoBoost is a high performance engine:
EcoBoost
3.5 Liter = 213.7 cubic inches
365 HP = 1.7 HP per CI
420 lb/ft = 1.97 per ci (89 octane!)
Hellcat
6.2 Liter = 378.3 cubic inches
707 HP = 1.8 HP per CI
650 lb/ft = 1.72 per ci (requires 91)
And on 91 octane for the EcoBoost:
370 HP = 1.73 HP per ci
430 lb/ft = 2.01 per ci
I'd say that the EcoBoost, for the size it is, can hang with the highest performance engine ever offered in a pony car or 4 door sedan!....I mean c'mon--- 15% more torque per cubic inch than the mighty Hellcat!
Heck, if the Hellcat produced the same amount of torque per cubic inch as the EB, it would make 760.4 lb/ft instead of a puny 650!

I understand completely. Sort of like my Grand National that was 245 hp stock and is now pushing 500hp with a tune and a few simple bolt ons.

Still, a top speed of
204 mph
is pretty impressive for a family sized four door.

GNX? The GN's are one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Hard to believe that the powers that be at that time at GM permitted a car to be made that could embarass the same year Corvette!

I love the C7's new interior, suspension, engine and transmission.........there are some angles that I like the styling, and others that it is just hideous. I've owned both a C5 and C6, both of which I think are better looking than the C7.
It is amazing that the new ZO6 has more power than the old ZR1....and can be had with an automatic and removable or convertible roof!

Call me crazy but I'd take a 2014 GT 500 with only 662hp over a Hellcat.
