Default Ford SYNC with Nav software update problems

Hello, I'm a new user here so if I make a mistake, please let me know. I am having an issue updating my SYNC system. It has the touchscreen version with navigation. The Ford owner website says I need to update to version Gen1-v2.1. From what I have been reading, I assume that I really need SYNC v4.6 or SYNC v5.8 since the auto version number has a bunch of numbers and letters and it says v5.7. Is there a tool that I could use for the system to create an XML file to tell me exactly what version I have? Thanks.

What vehicle and Sync do you have? There are 3 different versions discussed in this section, which are all different.

I have the SYNC with Voice Activated Navigation system, from 2009. Not MFT or SYNC 3.

I had issues updating my SYNC 3 in my truck to the 3.4 version. I did the download by Wi-Fi, had issues. I then downloaded it on a memory stick from the computer (using truck USB port) then back to the computer. Continuing to have issues with not seeing the Sirius XM travel. After several attempts downloading and calling Sirius XM no one could fix the issue.

Today, I went out the truck and I decided to do the Master Reset on the SYNC Module back to Factory Default. I am happy to say that all the Sirius XM travel App is working. I had to add my cell phone, Ford Pass, and anything else that was previously stored back to the system.

I hope this helps others.

like I said, I have SYNC with nav, not sync 3. To be more clear, it's the first sync system with navigation that Ford created.
