I had mine installed at a dealer. I think it was just under $500. I have the same issue though with it shutting off when I open the door and it honks at start up. I'll be looking to change both of those features.

Thanks for posting the programming link.

I tried the instructions that I found on here hoever the LED light never came on. All the proper horn sound were there but the truck still shuts off when the door is opened.

Default Dealer is wrong

The manual should tell you how it is to behave. (sorry, don't have mine handy)
Press button twice in 3 seconds to start the truck. Truck will automatically lock the doors. I use my remote to unlock doors, I get in turn key to on position and drive away. Only way it shuts off is if I step on brake pedal.
Paid about 450 for it, it has GREAT distance for remote and will never have the fight with dealer over warranty.
They originally gave me one remote, I told them every other remote system always provided me with two and so they gave me another without question.
I feel certain the dealer installed incorrectly as mine installed it incorrectly too at first. (mine shut off when i inserted the key, but they fixed it as they had swapped wires)
This is certainly the case for you too.

Check the manual, contact the Ford support team yourself to find out what should be included and how it should respond.

Good luck, seems simple to fix.

When my wife picked up my truck it would shut off when you put the key in so they said they would fix it. Well when she went and picked it up it now shuts off when you open the door, they said that they cannot fix it because thats how it is supposed to be so now when I get home I have to try and reprogram it myself.

The real Issue here is the "Mykey" feature. If it does not shut off the engine when you open the door or insert the key it bypasses this feature.

The Computer only looks for the transponder in the key when the engine first starts. Once the engine is running it no longer looks for it. If started with the remote starter the computer recognized the transponder in the stater module and stops looking. If you programmed a Mykey for someone and they used the remote starter the Mykey setting would not take effect.

Because of the above reasoning all ford dealerships have been instructed not to bypass this by reprogramming it to stay running.

With that said the easiest way to defeat this is to cut the wire that provides the feedback that the door it open. I installed the standard ford remote starter a few weeks ago and purposely did not splice in that wire. Mine works fine with no reprogramming and stays running when I open the door.

The Green Wire with a Violet strip coming out of the main module is the signal wire from the dome lights. Simply cut it and tape each end off.

I install these almost daily.

Cut off all the wires on the harness except the brown which goes to the horn at the column, at the other end of the harness keep the brown, blue and white (brake, parking lights and door locks) thats it. The rest you pitch except for ground wire obviously. Program and done
