Default Fluid Changes?

I have been searching for some good threads on Front and Rear Diff fluid changes and Transfer case. Just doing some research and coming up short.

I do a lot of towing and feeling its good to keep on maintenance.

Any input is appreciated.

My owners manual (2011) says diff fluids never need changing unless
the rear is repaired for something else. I know - I cant believe that either !!!

I have a 2000 Chevy pickup with 230,000 miles on it and the front and rear oils have never been changed.

I agree that maintenece is good, I use to change those too, back in the day. Always thought it was a waste after seeing the clean oil that drained out, but did it anyway. That's when a five gal pail of good gear oil was about $30 and ATF in the T-case was even cheaper. Then I realized that 95% of the guys I know, never changed their fluids at all, and they drove their trucks for years longer than I'd ever kept one, and they didn't have trouble. Nowadays on the axles I will use my handy dandy syphon gun through the check plug, I know, it doesn't get it all, might leave debris in the bottom (that I don't think are there anyway) but it gets a lot of it and it's more than most owners would do. That and that modern diff. covers are paper thin and they are practically glued on.
