Flowmaster 40 Series 5.0

I currently have a Z71 with the 5.3 and a 40 series Flowmaster single in dual out, running back to stainless 3 or 3.5 inch piping out the back with 3.5 inch stainless slash cut tips (I think 18 inch long.) I LOVE the sound. From the idle to cruising at 60mph. NOW. I have a 2011 F150 with the 5.0 . I was planning on doing the same setup. I believe the job is still 400 dollars total. I keep hearing about drone and what not. Don't really care about this, I just want a good deep aggressive sound without it being TOO loud. What I'm more concerned with is should I have the resonator removed or not? Any performance decrease? I hear people like the magnaflows....I just hate to stray away from the sound I have now.

If you are not concerned about drone; take the resonator off. Flowmaster has always had a great sound and I would say the 40's the most aggressive of all your other muffler choices. You Tube is a great place to listen to all the choices. There are many mufflers out there to choose from. I, on the other hand, am concerned about drone which is why I am holding off on getting an aftermarket exhaust.

44 or 10s is more aggressive then 40. I went from a 44 on my old hemi to a 14" magnaflo and absolutely regretted it sound wise. Performance wise some will say flow master adds nothing and magnaflo is the way to go. Stick with what you like the 5.0s sound great

I had a 13 RCSB 4x4 5.0 with true dual flowmaster 40s no resonator and 3.5" tips, and it sounded great. I miss that sound every day now that I have an ecoboost. It's a moderate tone that sounds good when easing on the throttle, but when you hammer it, it's there and it's loud.

I have that setup on mine but instead of duals just kept the single stock no duals. But have the 40 series and no resonator and imo sounds amazing. There is a drone but if you had it on a truck before you'll be used to it and it will be fine. Just my 2 cents.

thanks

Thanks for all the replies! According to the site the super 10 is the most aggressive, followed by the 40 series, followed by the 44 in that order.I'm going with resonator removed and the 40.

I have the Delta Flow 40 Series muffler on mine. I had the resonator removed. Sounds awesome but there is a lot of drone between 1500-2000 RPM. I wish i would have left the resonator on. It gets annoying inside the cab when climbing hills or passing someone. Hope that helps.

You will have a ton of drone with that. I have drone with the 50 series even.
