Im looking at exhaust systems. I had flowmaster series 40 on a previous truck and loved it. Im looking at either the american thunder (series 40) or maybe even stepping up to the outlaw anybody have experience with either or both?

 

I had the Flowmaster 40 on mine and I liked it a lot. It was nice and loud. I was curious about the Borla so I switched. I like the Borla, but I miss the Flowmaster. The Flowmaster was louder and created more internal resonance than the Borla. I like them.

 

I've got the Flowmaster American Thunder cat back system on my truck and my wife's truck. I love them both. Hers is just a tad louder. I have a screw w/6.5 bed and she has a screw w/5.5 bed. Both are 5.4's also. Not much drone on the highway, but sounds great cruising through town going through the gears.

 

I had the 40 series on my 03 4.6 and it sounded good...no too loud or droney. I will put the same system on my 10 after I put my level kit on. I believe stage 3 motor sports has a video of the flow master Outlaw and they loved it.

 

Which Borla did you get? I have the XR1 and at first thought it was too tame a sound for my taste. But, once I got a few miles through it...it's much louder now. I get many compliments & head turns from the Borla.
