Has anyone done anything with this space?




It's otherwise a pretty useless area. I've been thinking about putting in a small plastic console like the ones sold at auto parts stores. I don't really need any more cup holders but a small storage compartment or tray might be handy.

The center console is more than big enough, but it's almost too cavernous.

It's tough to do much with it - the tiny, useless swing-down bin that houses a USB port, 12V power point and Aux plug gets in the way. I have my sat phone and VHF radio mounted down there off to the passenger side.

What I really wanted with that option is the flow-through like I have in my FX4.

 

That is where the women puts the purse...

 

My STX has the power, USB, and input jack there but it doesn't have the swing down cover. Some side panels would be cool, almost like a flow through.

It'd be neat to build a small box and put an 8" woofer in there, but I don't think there's quite space enough for a decent box.

 

what about a man purse? i keep my pistol in the little cubby hole out of sight. the front plastic piece comes off and i lined the cubby hole with mole skin that has sticky back. store my phone charger cord in there also.

 

I dont have the console i have the seat there. Im thinking of doing the console swap or making my own using some thin sheet metal and then covering the metal with the same plastic used on the console as you can buy sheets and just cut to your specifications. I would just remove the door to the usb and aux or figure our a way to move them. It will be some time but I am working on ideas now. I plan out way far in advance. My mind is always moving.
