Default First oil change

Just wondering when most guys did their first oil change. I have around 1700 miles. Some guys like to do the first oil change around 1500. Also, did anyone install a drain plug valve?

I did mine at 1750. Awkward spot for the oil filter on the ecoboost until you learn how to open the little trap door to get at that sucker!

I think I went more than most. I had it changed at around 2500, again at 6700 and I'm due now at 11,000. I will likely keep it at 4-5K using synthetic blend and at 5K if I go with Mobil1

Just wondering why you would waste the $$ on synthetic and change it at 5k still? Like 80% of oil is now a synthetic blend and can easily go 5k on a change. I have 5400 miles on my 5.0 and was planning on doing first oil change at about 7500. With synthetic-there is no reason to change it before 10k. Changing oil every 5k with synthetic is gonna cost about $75 with filter. That's a lot of money to only go 5k on! Just my 2 cents

Agreed! Not to beat a dead horse again but you are not getting any benefit of the full synthetic by changing at 5000 miles. I change mine at 5000 miles but I use a synthetic blend which is really still too early. If I used full synthetic then I would go by the oil life calculator in the truck which would be about every 10K for me.

Edit: I just re-read my post and it didn't make any sense so I changed a few words around.

Ok, I know I will catch some flack here but the truck is new. Why do you change the oil at 1500 miles? All my pervious trucks I go 5000 miles or so on but 90% of the time using the truck is towing the gunshow set up in a big trailer.
