Default finding a 6.2 f150

I am looking for a decent used f150. it will be a daily driver as well as tow a travel trailer (gvwr 7600#). I am no interested in the ecoboost due the to higher mileage the used ones i am looking at have. I have a budget of 10-15k. so most trucks i look at are 150k miles on avg. i know they last a while but i do not need the possible added extra headaches of turbos etc. I have considered the 5.0 but I like to be a little overkill on my tow rating than regret when it struggles to pull my trailer. Is there a VIN # spec or only a certain models that have it. most people either list there truck as a V8 and its kinda tiring trying to ask everyone what v8 is it.

Nope, no trim or package consistent enough to rely on it. (plus people get things wrong, anyway) I used the usual sites (cars.com, etc) when shopping, filtered on V8 and just manually went through each and put them into 2 lists for 5.0 and 6.2.

Lariat, Platinum, Harley Davidson, Lariat Limited is where you will find the 6.2 the most. It was available on FX4 as well nothing below that threshold. The 5.0 is good as well but 3.73 gears are nice if you will be towing. The 6.2 makes towing anything a breeze and with 3.55 or 3.73s loves to chirp the tires out lol. Great engine.

May want to drive a few 09-10 max tow 5.4L trucks as well, the 5.4 with the 6 speed is a lot better than the older 11th gen trucks, night and day.

Go to autotempest.com and do an advanced search. Include 6.2L in the keyword filter/search along with any other requirements you have. That'll give you the best filtered list if you're on the hunt for the 6.2.

I just did a search for F150>max price = 17000>key words 6.2L and got a few hits...

https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...t&CMP=atempest

https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...mp2&CMP=stemp2

Hope that helps.

To Find a 6.2 in a F150, for 1 they are only in higher end trucks until 2013 when they went into the FX2/4 and went into the XLT in 2014. 8th number of the Vin is a 6 and if you use the filters and they are listed correctly on cargurus they are V8, Gasoline, the 5.0 is Flexfuel.
Harley Davidson F150 in 11-12 were all 6.2

i was looking into this but my buddy had a 5.4 and had some issues with the spark plugs several times.....also, even at the highest tow rating its not very high from what i can tell.

ford makes is so confusing i think i am going to just spend the extra coin and get a tundra. I have had one before and prefer the looks of an f150 but the tundra will pull a house down and is very reliable. downfall is the 13mpg and hard to find 4wd for a good price but if the f150 in the 6.2 is about the same.

Ford fixed the 5.4 plugs in 2008+ trucks. Max tow trucks should be rated 11,600 whether 5.4 or 6.2. Same for the Ecoboost but you mentioned you weren’t looking there. The 6.2 is great if you can hold out for one.

the 6.2s are harder to fine than you may think. ive NEVER seen an XLT f150 with a 6.2. the '09,'10 5.4 is pretty solid. the 6 speed really woke them up. they don't have the spark plug problem either

i dont see anywhere on the ford spec sheet a 5.4 in 09-10 rated at 11,600.....

i see some at 11,200. with 3.73 gears. just finding one is tough since no one knows. Is there a vin break down on the 09-10 models that shows this?
