That's definitely fugly. Plus, I use the wall (firewall?) behind the gas and brake pedals as a dead pedal. My legs are long enough that even touching that wall they're not straight. I would haaaate a dead pedal!!!

I like the dead pedal in the Focus but I can't see one being useful in the truck. In the car the way the floor is positioned it is useful to me, but in the truck I usually rest my knee on the door panel and just keep my foot flat on the floor and don't get fatigued by it, and sometimes I appreciate the extra space back there to stretch out. But for guys that like dead pedals, sure. It's not the prettiest thing to see, I'd get something like that and put black carpeting over it to hide it more, but that's just me.

I don't get it, why do you guys care how it looks? Are you going to stick your head under the dash to look at your pedals all the time? It's just something for your foot.

I've noticed that since I got my truck I'm putting my left leg flat on the floor while driving other vehicles. When I first got it I HATED the lack of a dead pedal. But I sit with the seat up pretty high and the angle it give on my legs is actually quite nice.

My truck has trained me in not needing silly expensive upgrades.

Its better at it too than my wife!

I must be too short (5'9"), or don't have my seat and steering wheel rake properly adjusted. I'm used to basically sitting on the floor in my other cars, with my legs out in front of me (not bent 90 degrees like a formal dining chair, but still slightly bent and nowhere near to having knees locked). I have my steering wheel column at its longest position (closest to me), the pedals at the furthest/deepest position, and the seat at the lowest setting too (wish the Ford seat bottom cushion would lower another 1-2" too, it's still too high at its lowest position!). The dead pedal never gets in my way. I guess tall people need not apply, because I actually wish the dead pedal was about 1" CLOSER to me (for exactly the right feel), or my seat was a couple inches lower (to help close the gap). For me (again, tall people may have trouble), this dead pedal is quite comfortable in daily driving. I do drive enthusiastically, and the first thing I missed in my F150 was a stable platform to "stand" on when braking or brace myself while cornering.

I want to be able to STAND on the brakes with the dead pedal about even (like a flat floor). Sorry, I guess I just can't shake the driving position I favored from my autocrossing days. Most of you would probably hate how upright my seat back is too (I'm always in an "alert" driving position with properly adjusted head rest etc., not a relaxed one with the seat reclined all the way back).

^ That's another thing I miss in my F-150, a thigh bolster/extender!

I have to agree with everyone else. I'm sure it works fine but I'd never put it my truck and I much rather have the tried and true mustang dead pedal. Guess I'm just not a bling bling kinda guy.

Hey! I'm 5' 9" too! Yeah I just have my foot flat... I had a car when I was 18ish but, to me anyway, it would feel unnatural to have my left leg extended. Though again, I don't have long legs so it works for me.

If you want a rest for your foot, and like that dead pedal, by all means rock it. Its your truck, don't let anyone dictate what you put in/on it.

Thanks! I didn't create this thread to validate or affirm my decision (the dead pedal is NOT coming out), but to share this as an option for those who are seeking a dead pedal solution and are disappointed in the selection of available products (like I was). I don't think there is a perfect solution out there, they are all compromises with their own trade-offs.

I'm lucky my interior is mostly black, and I'm able to obscure most of the dead pedal with my all-weather floor mat. It's barely visible from most viewing angles anyway. I might like a grooved rubber cover to match the other pedals for the pure OEM look, but it doesn't bother me enough to go out to Pep Boys and cut my own pedal cover from a generic floor mat. I can see this dead pedal (in either silver or black) being an eyesore in a tan interior though.

I just took my 1st road trip in my '12 F150 and about 1/2 way through the 6 hr drive i said "this thing drives awesome but my left knee is killing me, it needs a dead pedal"
I found this thread while searching. This one looks good but I am afraid it might be a bit big.
But I would have given my left knutt for one yesterday.

Those of you who don't get it either have great knees or just haven't had the need for one.

Yeah, that's what I'm finding. I wish it had a dead pedal. I'm constantly shifting my left foot. Sometimes just planting my foot on the carpet to get comfortable.
