Default Fender flares pros and cons

What are the pros and cons of fender flares? I'm considering the Bushwacker Pocket Flares after installing my new tires. They stick out about 2" and don't want rocks being kicked off my tires. Is it worth it to get the flares? any recommendations?

In some states it may be illegal to have tires that extend beyond the fenders on a street driven vehicle.

I like the Bushwhacker Street Style flares, but my truck currently does not have any.

The only issue I had with my Bushwacker pocket style flares, was that the seal that goes between your paint and the flares was sub par. After being on for a year, they had rubbed the paint down to the metal from dust/dirt getting between. If you don't plan on trading the truck in or taking off the flares, they're a good buy and look great to boot

Do you think tires being outside of the fenders and debris hitting the side of the truck are worse than flare rub?

My tires still stuck out, even with the flares. Didn't have an issue. I didn't care about the rub, obviously lol. Just throwing out the info in case the OP cares.

all good info .. if the side of my truck isn't really going to get torn up, I may go without. I would definitely paint them white to match the truck and likely never take them off. I don't really care about the road noise from the tires.. but do the flares help reduce that noise?
