Default FDAF Assessment

I went to the ford dealer today to order a s-crew xlt and their order confirmation has a 650.00 FDAF assessment, supposedly to pay Fords
advertising costs. Is this something i should pay? I told the dealer i'd be in touch.

When buying my 09 XLT I used this page to decipher the terms used by the dealership and if they were actual charges or just added on. http://www.leaseguide.com/Articles/carprices.htm I hope this helps.

My Dealer tried to tack this on to the "invoice" basis that we were negotiating from... I refused to pay it - they finally agreed.

I believe that's an advertising charge that Ford tags onto every new vehicle a dealer sells...at least that's how BMW does it and I (for one) don't think we need to be subsidizing Ford's advertising costs.
