Default Fault in trailer wire

I'm getting this error now. I have never used my 7 pin plug. Also when I look at brake controller. The lights for the + and - are blinking so to speak. I can assume the controller is bad? This is on a 14 xlt

just a shot in the dark.. my trailer lights were screwing up on me and turned out the plug on the back of the plate where you plug your trailer in had somehow worked loose and wasn't making good contact. Might check that and check ground before dropping $$$ on a controller.

I will look at that. I also have extended warranty on the truck as well.

I found the problem. The plug on backside of 7 pin 4 pin harness has water in it. Causing a short. Which cause my error msg. Next I just need to dry it and apply some dielectric grease.
