Falken AT3W
I was in the market for some 285 tires for my truck and I noticed that Falken has released their all-terrain tire. The tread pattern looks a whole lot more like an all terrain tire to me compared to their previous version. The price was also right so I decided to pull the trigger on them and give them a try. Discount Tire Direct delivered all four of these to my porch for a little over $600.
This is the P285/70-17. They measure 32.4" tall unmounted. The tread is 9.5" wide, which is a little wide than the 9.2" they had listed. They are 51 lbs. each on my scales. Both side walls are black letters but one side does have a more aggressive styling to the letters than the other side.
I also like the way that Falken stamps red and yellow marks on the tires to help the installer get them balanced properly. The key to that is having an installer who knows what they're doing. I'm going to take these tires and have them mounted and balanced later this week with road force balancing. I'll report back later and post more pictures.
They are "mountain snowflake" approved so they should be great in snow also.

All tires have these marks when new, if you look, they are usually a dot/circle on the sidewall with a very easily washable paint. usually it's scrubbed off when the installer cleans the blue protective coating off the white letters.
The key to that is having an installer who knows what they're doing.
Exactly this.. it's key, that mark is either the heavy or light spot on the tire (depending on manufacturer) and should be placed at the valve stem, or 180 deg from the stem.

Cooper will have no say in the matter, Falken has made the AT3 for ages, this new version has just passed the requirements for the severe winter tire rating as mentioned in the last comment in the quoted text above. Falken has just differentiated the winter version from the regular AT3 by adding a W to the name like many of the other manufactures.... including Cooper.

lol actually a former tireshop slave/manager.
as for Cooper Rep.... far far far far from it... I have owned 2 different sets of cooper winter tires.... I will never own a 3rd set with cooper on the side, worst winter tires I have ever owned.
Had the Discoverer M+S winters not studded on my 07 ranger, they looked great, and lots of siping for ice, open tread for snow traction, but my completely wore out Firestone winterforce had more traction.
Currently, for my 2011 F150, bought a set of the Discover ATw, their new winter rated AT tire (mountain w/snowflake). once again, they look to be a good winter tire, siting, and open lug design... but they feel like i'm driving on an oil slick.... no grip at all, I have to put my truck in 4hi for stupid little icy and snow covered areas or I'll spin (like my parking spot at my house) So i just picked up a set of hardly used (less than 3000km) Firestone winterforce. I love them. have only need to use 4hi once to get in my parking spot, really loose but packy snow on a layer of ice.
Now I will say I ran the ATw tires for half the summer, and they are decent for mild off road into fishing holes, and nice and quiet on the highway. but they did require a lot of weight to balance.
I really like the looks of the Falkens the OP posted, I could see them on my truck this summer if I can sell these Coopers

I just sold a set, I had the 34s. They were a pretty good tire for the price, they barley wore at all in the 20,000 i had them.
quiet on the highway, decent off road traction. Good tire if you will be doing a lot of on road driving.
Honestly you can't beat the price.
