Default Factory Bed Side Step question.

Does anyone know if the bedside step from a 17 will work on a 13/14??? As in if the bolt pattern where it mounts to the frame is the same.

They didn't offer a stepside in 17. Did you mean 07? Those beds WILL fit. The stepside was available on 12th gens in 09 only. There is zero difference between the 04-08 stepside and 09 version.
HOWEVER, you may need to come up with a plan for taillight wiring. The 12th gen trucks have 2 taillight bulbs per side. The 04-08 trucks and 09 stepside trucks only have one bulb per side. If you simply remove the bulb it will give a hyperflash because it will think a bulb is blow out. If you find a stepside bed, try to grab the taillight harness as well. It may be a direct swap as well and solve all the issues.

No I’m not talking about the flare side bed. I’m referring to the retractable beside steps that mount under the bed to the frame.

 Yeah, i'm dumb. lol. No they will not work. frame is completely different. Also, if you are searching for used ones, keep in mind they are also bed length specific. So if you have a 5.5 bed, steps from a 6.5 bed will not work.

Thanks for the info. Wasn’t aware that the bed length mattered. Thought they would work for either bed length other than one set is shorter than the other. Thanks!!

Looking at pics, the mount brackets are angled more or less depending on bed length.

Thanks for the info. I think that could be due to the 6.5 beds the side step seemed to be wider than the non long bed. So the shorter ones should work on either bed length.

You had better watch it, it is still a Ford and Ford has been notorious for not using the same parts where you think they would, Just saying.
