I came from an 09 Laramie and was actually looking at a 13 sport before I bought my FX4, the RAM had a better ride, any one that tells you different is smoking something. I liked the storage bins in the back for straps, and storing misc stuff, the heated steering wheel in the winter was awesome. Hemi had lots of power but the trans was the weak link I thought, the new 8spd should solve that though.
Both are good trucks but I like the Ford better its my favorite truck so far.

Yes you can this year. Both Chevy and Ram offer the full 4 doors with 6.5 beds now. I guess they finally listened to consumers after many switched solely because of this. Me being one of them, lol.

Personal preference IMO. I like both. I would choose based on price or whats available with the options you want

Everyone I know that has a ram complains about the seats not being that comfortable for any period of time. They all love the engine, has plenty of power. I

I would never buy a dodge for one reason. I have a few friends with dodges and they have all had major transmission problems. One of them had a 98 which he sold in 2010 I think and went through 3 transmissions. The other ones were newer dodges and had transmission problems as well but only replaced ounce I believe. The hemi is nice but don't think it's worth the transmission problems.

If I was looking today it would be a really tough choice, personally I think the Laramie looks tough! Best looking truck IMO, however I wanted the best truck and that's why I bought the F150. GL with your decision.

You're comparing apples to apples, just flavor preference. Get the one your wife likes. You can thank me later

I bought a 98 Ram new and kept it for 14 years. 130k miles before I replaced anything other than brake pads and two sensors. Not too bad. Then the trans went out at 130k, had it rebuilt, and it went out again at 170k (most likely due to poor rebuild), and I sold it with 190k. All in all, fairly decent reliability. No car like ride on the 98, solid axles front and rear. I would be a little scared of the 8 SPD, but I believe Ford's 6 SPD has had some reliability issues as well, along with the ecoboost condensation deal, however widespread that really is. I think reliability between the two is pretty much just speculation at this point, time will tell.

One thing I liked when I had a Dodge was there were fewer of us on the road. Resale value is a non issue for me, because none of them are worth much when I sell them with near 200k miles. Drive them both some more and pick the one you prefer. I won't knock the Ram, still a soft spot in my heart for them. But I'm hoping Ford's reliability will be the best since that's what I have now lol.

After reading this thread I am impressed with how reasonable most people are regarding other manufacturers products. From my own experience, I owned a 2002 Ram Quad Cab 4x4 and now have a 2011 XLT SCrew 4x4. In between I drove my dad's 2003 GMC RC 4x4 regularly. In my opinion the Ram was the most comfortable truck I've ever driven. It was great for short and intermediate drives but on long ones the seats would give you fatigue when you got out. The Ford is the best "truck" by far, but it leans a lot in turns and could use a little weight in the bed to give you a truly smooth ride. The GM is a POS with little things breaking regularly but it's as reliable as any vehicle I've ever seen. Dodge/Ram is known for tranny issues and mine wasn't that reliable in general, but I have to believe that they are fixing these issues over time. Hell, the 2013 Ram 1500 won Consumer Reports truck of the year. I'd be inclined to give the Ram a shot, especially if you don't plan on driving it over 100k miles and it's mostly a daily family vehicle. Either way, best of luck...

I wouldn't concern yourself with this new trans, its not Dodge built and ZF does transmissions for some high end autos. This might be a new to Ram trans but its not new.

Both trucks are nice. I've owned many fords and the only one that gave me issues was the Ecoboost engine. That said, there is a reason the F150 is one of the best selling vehicles ever.
I've only looked at a Ram, never driven one; but they look nice. I had 2 Jeeps Grand Cherokees which both had major tranny problems. Not sure what Ram is doing tranny-wise, but that would be something to research.
Let us know what u decide and why.
