Default F150 Lariat vs Ram Larmie

So I have been thinking real hard about purchasing a new truck. It will not be for towing, more of a daily vehicle and weekend trips. I currently have a 2007 Tacoma crew cab that just is not big enough - I need something with more room in the rear seats.

I was pretty much sold on a F150 s/crew Lariat Ecoboost, 4x4, fairly loaded, stickering around $51K. From my initial shopping, looks like 10.5K off MSRP is very doable, and with Labor Day approaching, I am hoping for 11-12K off.

So today, I did something I swore I wouldn't do, I looked at the RAM. It was a Laramie, loaded, stickered the same as the Ford. I took it for a test drive..........surprisingly I was extremely impressed. Fit and finish inside were excellent, the Hemi is a beast, and the 8 speed trani was nice. Ride was great. Exterior is aggressive looking (but whats up with the plastic rims?)

I had a 2005 Ram SLT that I ended up hating, dumped it after 2 yrs, POS

So, my question is, has anyone here compared the two trucks? What are your thoughts? I know this being a Ford forum, the Dodge may get bashed, but dam, it was nice. While the Dodge is plenty roomy in the rear seats, the F150 has even more room.

I really like the F150....a lot. But hits choice is getting much more difficult than I expected. Inventory on the RAM is VERY low in my area, while 150's are dwindling, there are more out there to be had. The fact that I am looking at 13's, and we're approaching Labor Day, I'm thinking the end pricing on the two should be about the same?

Your thoughts on the two trucks?
What pricing do you think is reasonable for Labor Day on 13's?

Thanks in advance

PS - I also drove a loaded 2014' Silverado today, it's a distant third. Tech and cooled seats were superior though

The Ram is more focused on driving refinement, whereas the Ford easily outshines any pickup with it's powertrains. Yup, I genuinely think that as a car, the Ram is miles better than the F-150. (GASP!) But as a truck, the F-150 is the best out there. Choose your weapon. I've driven a few Rams and the way they drive is nice, but it felt finicky as a truck, doing truck things. There was also more that I didn't like about it than the Ford. But with the Ram's improvements, it's definitely a close competitor.

It all boils down to preference, really.

I don't think you can get rams with a 6.5ft bed in a 4-door. That would be a deal breaker for me.

All fords Chrome clad wheels are plastic! And if you live in a warmer climate during the Summer months like me, the AC sucks ***** hard!
Also Fords Warranty service Sucks, my grille cracked in half from normal opening and closing(oil changes, maintenence)Ford denied replacing it!

Another to consider is the resale value on a Ford F150 is better than the Ram.

I'm in my 2013 F150 atm so that won't change anytime soon. How are Ram's reliability? I know you always get the "every vehicle has it's problems" banter but some are just way worse then others for me it was anything under the GM banner was a complete POS.

After going to NHTSA's site and seeing this recent recall for the 2013 RAM I wonder how many other issues that don't require a recall and are just problems that have your truck stuck on hoist for weeks on end. Ugh it really pays to do your homework before pulling the trigger.

Funny thing.......the way things are looking just from quick online quotes, equally equip trucks, the Ram is looking to be more pricey.

Buy the Ram.
There are enough Fords on the road now and Ram needs all the help they can get.

Really? A couple years ago a buddy priced a fully loaded Dodge, I mean it had everything and and FX4 was the same price with leather. He would have had to Platium in a Ford for $12000 more to get the same. But he went with FX4. Lol
