Default F150 diesel??

I've been brainstorming lately wondering if it would be possible to transfer a diesel engine into our trucks and convert our systems or what not? I think it would be pretty cool ! What do y'all think?

If u have enough money, u can do anything! I've seen gas cars turned into diesels, so I don't see why it couldn't be done.

Why not just buy a F250? It will save you wads of money.

Well I don't truthfully plan on doing the conversion, I would most likely buy a superduty if I wanted a diesel. I just think it would be a cool concept because I love my f150 but I would also love a diesel engine

I don't think he wants to do it to his truck. I think he's just wondering if it's possible (correct me if I'm wrong). But there could be a bunch of reasons for people doing this. Some may not like the look of the 250 over the150, they may think an f250 is too big, some just like to have something that nobody else has. The list can go on and on.

This has been talked about here before....as to Ford missing the boat here for the towing market.
I would be ALL OVER a 5.0 liter diesel (not a gas conversion though) with about 500 to 600 ft./lbs of torque.
I love my 5.4 but for my newest TT, it would be nice to have more torque for the mountain passes around here.

It is possible. People put Cummins in them all of the time. Same with putting a Cummins in a Super Duty.

Yeah I would just love to have the power and rumble of a diesel in my truck. It would be cool if Ford offered a smaller diesels engine for us for sure

I think the die has been cast with the egobust. Unlike some foreign manufacturers, gasoline turbo is Ford's future direction for the F150 and cars.

The big problem is the weight of the currently-available diesel engines. That heavy diesel engine would require a complete overhaul and beefing up of the front suspension.

Next problem is the modern engines and transmissions are computer controlled. It might be doable, but it would require replacing the engine and tranny and computer with the diesel version, then making all the other computers (modules, such as the ABS module) work with the diesel computer (PCM).

Cheaper would be too jack up the F-150 and run an F-250 diesel under it. Or if you want to spend a bunch of money, but a lot less than trying to convert an F-150 to diesel, then go to Australia and buy the current Ford Ranger with a 3.2L TDCi diesel engine, and import it to the USA.
