Default f150 bedrail cap on tailgate

I noticed that my tailgate bedrail cap (factory black plastic) is 'warped' and beginning to pull away from the tailgate on the drivers side. Is there anyway to get this fixed, or is it one of those things you just have to live with?

I can push it down and it will stay flush for awhile, then it will resume its warpedness....

Can these be removed, easily?

On a new truck, I'd make Ford replace it. To hell with living with it!

I just hate taking a brand new truck into a dealership and saying 'my tailgate bed rail cap is warped'.....can you fix it. But I understand that they should replace it or the clip/screw/clamp that holds that side down.

If it's already messing up, it's only gonna get worse. I'd just take it in the next oil change you get and let them know. I'm sure they'll have to order it. You may be able to take some tec screws and screw it down???

I fixed it! I was able to pull the cap up a little and found that there are two holes made for two plastic expasion clips. The clips were not in the holes, so I just got some needle nose pliers and put them in place.

Now the kicker, one of them was already broken and one is 'okay'. We will see how well they hold....they seem to be holding good (i.e. no warping); but I think they will give during the freeze/thaw cycles and tailgate useage ahead this fall/winter. I will likely go into ford and ask them if they can replace it, now they will think that I caused it!!!

So how in the world do you remove them once the expasion clips are in the holes? I imagine there is some type of release hole?

We had the same problem, we just drilled through the rail and top of tail gate, removed the tail gate access plate and bolted the rail on using flush head bolts.

The truck is nearly 4 years old so there was no hope of getting the dealer to sort it for any decent price.
