Default f150 5.0 roush exhaust drone to loud!

Well I finally got my roush exhaust I love it exactly the tone I want nice deep growl! Only thing is I have to lower the drone my wife and I are have a baby soon and the drone is a bit much. My local muffler shop said I have to swap my muffler but I know there's got to be another way to lower it. I've read reviews about adding a resonator to it to lower the drone. Is there any other suggestions?!

Did you remove the stock resonator? If so, then put it back on.

The only three I know of are:

Remove the muffler but that defeats the purpose of having the Roush system to begin with.

Add the stock or a Raptor resonator or another muffler in place of the resonator to help with the drone.

Or remove the system all together and go with something else.

I'm wanting the Roush system myself but haven't pulled the trigger due to the drone issues everyone mentions.

I have a Stainless Works chambered kit on my turbo truck, its pretty quiet inside. There is "some" interior noise, but its not something that bothers me.

Check out SW's youtube page, they have a lot of videos with db rates and interior vid clips.

Is your priority the micro human your wife is going to bring into the world or is it the performance of your truck?

No, it's what your truck comes with to start. That Roush was the worst waste of money I've ever spent on any mod. They oughta be sued for false advertising on the drone issue. I even added a Flowmaster series 40 on mine just to make it bearable to drive.
How did your mileage and performance turn out after installation? Both dropped on mine. I finally wound up with a quality system on mine a few weeks ago.
I've got the Roush and Flowmaster out in the barn if anyone local is interested, just get the thing outa here. Just need a 3" coupler, I just cut it in two in front of the muffler.

I haven't noticed anything to much yet I just got in Monday. What system did you go with, if you don't mind my asking, might be worth looking into if I can't fix the drone

I have the roush system on my truck, and don't understand the complaints. It's no louder than the flowmaster system I had on my Silverado, and not nearly as loud as the slp system on my cobra. Maybe I'm just used to the noise, but I'm happy with my exhaust.

I have the roushe system on my truck. And I also found it too loud. I had my local muffler shop stretch out an adapter piece (2.5-3.0") and I put my factory resonator back in place. I am 100% satisfied, and would recommend it to anyone who finds the drone to loud. Very cheap alternative.
