f150 4x4 light
2012 F150 with the 4x4 light comes on and no error code found when hooked up to to a scanner my mechanic told me need to get the PCM reflashed

Vacuum hose leak. Does it make like a groaning sound if you turn hard right or left?
Mine did the exact same thing. That light came on, turned truck off, light went away, didn't come back on. Had codes checked, nothing. Come to find out, there was a vacuum leak in the passenger front, would make a groaning sound when turning hard left, it was the vacuum leak trying to turn on, or turning on, the 4X4. I would get that checked asap. Mine ended up messing up the actuator gears...I think that's what it was...can't remember right off. Fortunately it was still under warranty.

There should be a code if you're getting that warning, your mechanic needs to scan the TCCM using a good scan tool, cheaper tools that only scan the PCM will not give you any information on this issue.
