Default EZ-Down from DeeZee

Folks -

Got this for my 2010 F150 Harley, which is a SuperCrew.

Installed very easy, but the bottom bolt broke off while driving the very first day. The instructions warned not to over tighten it - and I was careful about that.

I called DeeZee today and they said this will NOT work on a SuperCrew because the tailgate is different. Is this correct? I have the short bed and did not think it was any different than any other short bed.

I did tell them that their website shows this fits the Harley and Platinum which are both SuperCrew only..

I really like the product - so anyone know if this works or doesn't work with SuperCrew/Short Bed?

Thank you,
Alex

tailgates are the same. the supercrew used to have a flareside tailgate when it was first produced. i think in 2001-2003. but i beleive they are the same as a regular fleetside bed. i dont see them making one tailgate for each size bed. thatd be dumb. tell them they are the same and dont let em out of replacing the product. they are prolly just blowing smoke.

That's what I thought.. They are very flexible and actually just want me to return the product - I'm the one fighting them on it and saying it should work.. Funny huh.. :-)

They are going to check with someone and get back to me on Monday. I will keep everyone posted.

Thanks!

The ez down for the 2004 works all the way up to the 2010's. I installed one of these on my truck last week. Mine was part #DZ 43200

I installed it on my scab and i have the same bed as a screw 5.6 foot bed. I love mine and have had no problems...

DZ43200 is the same part I received. So - perhaps this is just an issue of the lower 3mm allen bolt breaking off. As I mentioned, they warned about over tightening it - and I thought i did not have it that tight..

The one I got for my 2010 Platinum 6 1/2 bed works perfect after a little tweeking. The bottom bolt would not stay tight at first and I was afraid to over tighten it because of the poor metal quality. If it becomes loose it is sure to sheer off. I decited to use (strong) red loc-tite and finger tighten it. No problems thus far. Why they used a crappy allen head insert in an aluminum head with a metal(aluminum?) screw that goes into an aluminum toggle is beyond me. What ever happened to grade 8 steel? Why four pieces instead of two? It's a great product if you use loc-tite on the bottom bolt and don't stress the metal when tightening it.
