Default Extended Warranty

My '11 FX4's 36k mile warranty is about to run out. Did any of you guys buy an extended warranty? Is it worth it or should I risk it?

Depends on how much it cost like mine was 1000 dollars to me that's worth it. I mean i just like to know I'm covered.

I bought mine when I bought the truck. Took it out to 7 years/90K miles I think. It was like $1300 at the time. Think is has a deductible.

Extended service plan (ESP) from Ford is the best on the market, I bought one for my truck and my wife's truck from www.floodfordesp.com for a great savings over what the dealer offered.

Like any insurance you buy, you hope you never have to use it but it's there just incase.

There are other places online selling Ford ESP's that are competitive and are worth looking up via google because they price war for business so do your homework for the best price.

I didn't realize there was a 5yr/60k mike separate drivetrain warranty. I don't think I'd get an extended warranty outside of just the powertrain.

The floodfordesp.com site is quoting ~$900 for the 100k powertrain only warranty. Not too bad I guess. I'm still not sure. I've never had a car that needed major work and I've had them all past 100k miles.

^^^This. I bought from Flood also, and it was a smooth transaction. I saved $600 off what my dealer was asking for a 7/75 Premium Care Plan with a $50 deduct. I paid $1110. I buy mostly for all of the electronics on these new vehicle. I'm not to worried about the drivetrain, but the extra couple years are there just in case.

Did any of your previous vehicles have in excess of 16 on board computer modules? Any one of them can cost upwards of $1,500 and is only covered under base 3/36 warranty with exception of the PCM, that falls under the 80k mile emission warranty.

Every thing on the right in BLUE is a computer module in my XLT, higher end models such as Platinum, Harley, Raptor, Limited,.. have even MORE modules.

Peace of mind considering the multiplexed network on wheels we drive these days, it's foolish to NOT get an ESP.

if you can swing it, buy it. I plan on keeping the truck until it dies, and with my ESP on my CPO running 7/100k I hope to keep it running for a long time. Like noted above, there is so much electronic gear that I dont want to be left out in the cold. I can fix almost anything mechanical, I can retune the PCM, but I can't break apart the nav if it goes on the blink. besides, these trucks are expensive, might as well drop the little extra to ensure your investment retains as much value as possible
