bought my truck brand new in 2010 and used my rear defrost hundreds of times with no issue, this morning on my way to work i hit the rear defrost button and within 5 minutes there was a loud POP and my passenger side rear window was shattered, still holding in place though, called my dealer and they pretty much told me im SOL however they would replace it at the dealership for $1500, i called my insurance and it is covered in my comprehensive, $100 deductible and safelite will be at my house at 9am tomorrow morning to replace the entire back window.

Make sure to report this defect to the NHTSA so we can get a recall on it. here's the link.

just finished reporting the issue to NHTSA, there were small slivers of glass on my back seat, this scares the crap out of me, had my wife not had off today my 8 month old daughter would have been in the back seat directly under the window. i hope something is done about this, not for my sake but i would hate to see someone hurt over this. i know i am for sure going to remove that fuse.

Ok so after reading all 4 pages about the back glass shattering I'm a bit nervous especially cold Michigan weather is coming. I have a 2010 XLT Screw. It is still under an extended warranty. If I take it into Ford with a copy of all the comments on here and the NHTSA report will they replace the window? I want to be proactive and avoid the potential for breakage especially if it happens with my daughter in the back. Anyone try that yet? My dealer is in Dearborn. You can see Ford World HQ from the shop.

I took my back glass out with my quad. It was only $380 for the new glass (full slider) and $220 for labour at my dealer. Insurance covered it. Those of you getting quoted over a grand need to try elsewhere.
If it spiders and holds together, tape it up asap. It will hold together longer, I drove with mine busted for nearly 2 months.
